I’ve never been a fan of chintzy logo pieces that scream, “Gucci” or “Vuitton!” I usually cringe when I see someone walking towards me with a huge “H” embossed on their belt buckle or a popped collar lined with Burberry’s signature plaid. Don’t get me wrong I love Frida Giannini‘s fall/winter ’08 interpretation of the chic bohemian in skinny black embroidered pants with tassels (Yes, the skinny pants are here to stay, a keep for your winter wardrobe). But the loud gold horse bit jewelery or kissing reversed “G’s” just make me wonder, “do people love Gucci because of their use of high quality, lustrous textiles or because they can show off their luxury pieces?” My interpretation of luxury? Find a good tailor to adjust classic, minimalistic basics that can be paired up with a signature top with great embellishments or a statement necklace with intricate details. In the end you will feel more luxurious in made to fit quality pieces than walking around as an ad for Vuitton’s, “Joke Line.”
